Designed by the International Curriculum Association (ICA), the International Primary Curriculum is a comprehensive, thematic, creative curriculum with a clear process of learning.
From Year 1, children at TradeWinds are taught knowledge, skills and understanding for a range of curriculum areas through one exciting theme.

The IPC offers a curriculum that is internationally relevant, and one that is carefully tailored to meet the needs of our school community.
Each IPC topic starts with an Entry Point to capture the children's imagination. The topics that are covered are both relevant and interesting, and the thematic and practical approach that the IPC offers encourages every child to be an active and enthusiastic learner. Students engage in a wide variety of research, recording and presentation activities as part of the learning process. This multi-faceted approach helps them develop into well-rounded students who can apply these skills to any future learning.

After Year 6 (age 11) students progress to the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC).

Relevance and Interconnectedness
The International Primary Curriculum (IPC) is designed to prepare students aged 5-11 for success in an increasingly interconnected world. By incorporating global themes, diverse cultural perspectives, and opportunities for international collaboration, the IPC aims to develop students' international mindedness and ability to thrive in a globalized society.
The curriculum's emphasis on real-world connections through hands-on learning encourages students to engage with global challenges, fostering a sense of responsibility and empathy towards worldwide issues.
Through the IPC, students acquire not only academic knowledge but also essential skills such as critical thinking, communication, and creativity that are crucial for navigating an interconnected world. By embracing the IPC, schools can equip their students with the tools necessary to become responsible global citizens who can contribute positively to a diverse and rapidly changing world.

As well as these International Primary Curriculum subject disciplines, children at TradeWinds also have regular lessons in swimming, sport and fitness, the arts and Kiswahili.
By combining this comprehensive curriculum with the high academic expectations of the British Curriculum for reading, writing and mathematics, we provide a rich and varied learning experience that will provide students with the skills they need for whatever the future may hold for them.
Personal Development
Learning is about so much more than academics. At TradeWinds Academy, we aim to provide students with transferable life skills and attitudes. All of our learning is underpinned by 10 Personal Learning Goals. With these attributes, students will not only succeed academically, but they will develop into considerate, responsible citizens of the world.
Students past and present have explained what these PLGs mean to them:
