The Teenage Brain
The International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC) is tailored for 11–14-year-old students, acknowledging the distinct requirements of the developing adolescent brain. The IMYC recognises that this age group undergoes significant neurological changes, necessitating support to organise and connect their thinking and learning effectively.
Adolescents experience a period of brain synthesis and specialisation, which requires particular assistance in making connections and deriving meaning from their learning experiences. The IMYC aims to cater to these specific learning needs during the critical transition from primary to secondary education, helping students navigate the challenges of this developmental stage and stay engaged in their learning process.
